The Crab Nebula

Constellation: Taurus.
Best Seen: Winter.
Telescopic Appearance: Appears as a faint smudge of light from the city. It can be difficult to see at all on hazy nights. This object is the remnants of a supernova explosion which occurred in the year AD1054. For many days after the explosion, this object was visible from Earth as a very bright star which could even be seen with the unaided eye in daylight!
Photo Details: This is a composite of two exposures, one lasting 90 minutes, the other lasting two hours on unhypered Kodak Elitechrome 200 slide film. Taken with the 11"SCT at f/10.
