| Sketches by Tom Godfrey |
| Although pleasing to the eye, film & CCD images do give a false
impression of what the newcomer can expect to see through his or her newly
acquired telescope. These excellent sketches by Tom Godfrey (another astrobuddy from Spacetalk) give a far more realistic assessment of what you can expect to see at the eyepiece, given reasonably dark skies. A student at Sussex university, Tom has been a serious observer for more than 6 years, owning scopes between 3"-16" in aperture. Amazingly, some of these sketches were made using nothing more 'sophisticated' than a pair of 7X50 binoculars! Cheers for allowing me to post these images on my website, Tom. I look forward to adding to them as & when! Anyone wanting to contact Tom about his sketches, deep sky observing etc. can do so by e-mailing him at: choccy_bourbon@hotmail.com |
